A lot of people in the world or many tourists who ever been in Thailand and ever seen to visit this place, Almost everyone was impressed, because this place has a large and famous stupa which is called ‘Phra Pathom Chedi’ .
Phra Pathom Chedi is the large stupa in Nakon Pathom Provice in Thailand. This place is the oldest, very important and most valuable place of the Buddhist’s hitory in Thailand.
This place has a long history in 3 periods :
1. Suwannaphumi Period (since the year 208 B.E. – 1,000 B.E.) This perioad was the first age of the Phra Pathom Chedi stupa building. The shape of stupa looked like an upside down begging bowl, like the Saangi style in India. The height was 45.04 meters.
2. Thawarawadi period (since the year 1,000 B.E. – 1.600 B.E.). This period was the increasing of Phra Pathom Chedi stupa with Phra Prang style. The height was 99 meters.
3. The Grand Renovate perioad (since the year of King Rama IV, in the year 2396 B.E. – present) Phra Pathom Chedi stupa was transformed to Thai architecture style, the shape looked like big bell. There was the ‘Buddha Throne’, consisting the ‘Plong Chanai’ and ‘Phra Maha Mongkutt’ on the top of stupa. The height was 120.45 meters.
